QUESTION OF THE DAY
WHEN WILL THE IMAMS BE RELEASED?
Tomorrow is 18 February, a day which the government marks as a day of liberation of this nation. But in commemorating this day will the president consider ordering the release of IMAM SHEIKH OMAR COLLEY, the imam at a mosque in Jabang-Borehole in the Kombo South District, who has been in detention since Thursday, 15 October, 2015? Will he consider ordering the release of IMAM CHERNO GASSAMA of Darsilami Mosque in the Lower Fulladu West District, Central River Region, who was arrested since on Monday, 2 November, 2015 and is currently detained at the Janjanbureh Central Prison? When will he consider ordering the release of IMAM OUSMAN SAWANEH of the Kanifing South Mosque who was picked up by unidentified men in civilian clothes around 10 am on Sunday, 18 October, 2015 and is still being detained at the remote Janjangbureh prison without access to his family?
When will he put an end to all detention without trial or bail and all disappearances without trace? When will he be the protector of the liberty and dignity of the people?
