Since the first Republic claims have been made that there is offshore potential. The information continued to be disseminated during the second Republic and it is still wildly rumoured that offshore oil wells exist. However, Foroyaa wanted GNPC authorities to shed light on the following question:
What oil reserve do we have in The Gambia? How much of this is proven reserve? How much of the reserve can be exploited? Is there any prospecting taking place at the moment? Have companies shown interest in prospecting?
We will contact the ministry of petroleum and energy to get answers to questions that the paper could not get from GNPC authorities.
