The candidates are now set for the April 2023 electoral contest. They have to reconcile their campaign programmes to avoid conflict. They are to commence campaign on Friday 31st March. Both Christians and Muslims in The Gambia are engaged in fasting.
This may affect the electorate in the conduct of campaign. The essence of the campaign is to put the candidates and their programmes in front of the people so that they can better weigh their potentials to serve The Gambia. It is hoped that if all the candidates have to sign a code of national ethics put into law by the IEC, they will all abide by the text of the code.
All candidates should familiarize themselves with the content of the code. If they do and further adhere to its content the country will have a free, fair, genuine and credible election. All citizens should monitor and expose those who violate the election code of ethics.
