QUESTION OF THE DAY

WHAT IS THE STATE OF THE SERVICE WOMEN WHO WERE SEPARATED FROM THEIR FAMILIES AND KEPT IN CAMPS AGAINST THEIR WILL?

Foroyaa has made maximum efforts to get families and the state to throw light on their separation from their families.

Family members would not actually say that they were detained and request for Foroyaa’s intervention to expose the reason why they were detained.

However, the authorities never denied that the concerned servicewomen were actually encamped at an Immigration outpost and army barracks. We had to persist in exposing the ordeal of the servicewomen.

In a recent interview, we were told that they are now free.

We advise Gambians who go through such ordeal not to be silent but should be vocal in exposing what happened to deter future recurrence.
