QUESTION OF THE DAY
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE SEARCHES AT DENTON BRIDGE WHICH CAUSE LONG QUEUES EVERY MORNING?
Foroyaa will try to find out why there appears to be a permanent security alert on the Serekunda – Banjul Highway.
A patient in a deep state of pain scheduled for treatment at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul spent almost an hour in the long queue just waiting to arrive at the security check point at Denton Bridge before the transport would be allowed to increase its speed to Banjul.
Transports were criss-crossing and even getting off the main road to form four lanes just to jockey for position. The dust coming from the laterite pavement and being inhaled is not only an inconvenience but also a threat to health.
Many people cannot understand why they have to go through all these hardships only for the drivers to be casually looked in face and then allowed to continue. The state needs to look into this matter.
Foroyaa will conduct an enquiry as to why the status quo still remains since 30 December 2014.
