The Gambia would soon be faced with the problem of asylum seekers in Europe or USA due to statelessness. A person who is denied belonging to a state is among those who are the most persecuted in a country.
The Gambia needs to put its house in order to prevent statelessness. Many offspring of Gambians are now citizens of the US because of birth. This brings into question whether the statelessness could be justified before world public opinion. Foroyaa will conduct extensive investigation on this issue to clarify matters and promote remedy.
