Warrant Officer Class 1 (WOC1), Mr. Ismaila Jammeh has clocked 92 days in detention without trial.
Mr. Jammeh who was picked up by Military Police since Friday, 17 March 2017, is yet to know his fate and his long detention has traumatised his entire family, especially the wife. WOIC Class 1 Jammeh has 7 children.
His wife, Mrs. Fatou Sanyang Jammeh, descried the trauma and frustration she and the rest of the family are going through. Mrs. Jammeh said her husband was the breadwinner of their young family and does not know the reason why her husband is still held behind bars without being released.
The family members of the Warrant Officer continue calling on the new government to release their loved one.
It was reported earlier that Jammeh’s arrest came at a time when he closed from work at Yundum Barracks around 1pm. Upon arrival at home in Kotu, he received a phone call from Captain Alagie Njie, the Military Police commander at Yundum barracks, that he should return. The wife said his husband complied and returned without delay.
“On his arrival he was told that he was under arrest and will spend the night. I was in a state of trauma when I received the information that my husband was arrested. He left 7 children at home and it has not been easy for me as their mother. So, I’m therefore calling on the authorities to release our breadwinner, as we are in the holy month of Ramadan,” she said.
However, Mrs. Jammeh said military authorities have allowed them to be visiting or even communicating by phone, with their loved one at his place of detention.
“Investigation is ongoing and the joint panel of investigators are still working on their case and would come to a conclusion soon,” GAF spokesperson, Lt. Col. Omar B. Bojang told this medium.
