Agents of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU) from Kanifing have arrested two individuals between the ages of 22 and 25 in Bundung JolaKunda on Tuesday, 14 May 2024, for alleged possession of over one hundred wrapped pieces of a substance suspected to be ‘Kush’(a drug).
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Modou Musa Sisawo, the individuals have been taken into custody at PIU Headquarters in Kanifing, and will be handed over to the Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG) for further processing.
The arrest is said to be part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related offences, which aligns with the Gambia Police Force’s operations in the fight against ‘Kush’ initiated in February 2024 by the Crime Management Department of the Gambia Police Force, to support DLEAG’s mission in promoting a drug-free society in the Gambia.
