The Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment on Wednesday 24th March, 2021, convened a three-day training workshop entitled “Knowledge Sharing on Enterprise Risk Management (ERM)”.

The training exercise which was organized by the Administrative Unit of the aforesaid ministry came following the Gambia Government’s recognition of the need for every ministry, department or agency to have a Risk Register.

The training was aimed at equipping members of staff with information on the concepts of risk and risk management, expose staff to the tools required for preparation of a risk register and have a holistic risk register for their directorates, departments, agencies and/or units for the year 2021.

The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Mr Hassan Jallow, said the Risk Register helps in risk identification, monitoring, prevention and treatment as well as finding solutions for reduction of risk impact for every organization.

“The management of this ministry under my leadership appreciates the efforts and commitment that members of staff dedicate themselves to the knowledge sharing on ERM and also in preparation of a risk register for the Ministry,” PS Jallow stated.

Jallow said the overall goal of the training was to upgrade effective knowledge and skills to better streamline ERM in the Annual Work Plan of the ministry’s assessment process. He said the workshop has been designed to provide practical skills, encourage participation and exchange information.

“I thank the Administrative Unit for initiating and organizing this training,” he said.
