Foroyaa is informed that the GGC authorities are still waiting for the Federation of Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives before stating a final view on what is to be done to address all challenges associated with the season. It is very urgent for a very efficient system of reconciliation to be put in place for future purposes.
It is important for those who are to address the challenges of the trade season to know that the groundnut trade is the heart of the rural economy and those engaged in it belong to the most vulnerable group in Gambian society. Currently they live on an income that depends on the vagaries of the weather. Selling their crops also is done under a climate of uncertainty. It is therefore hoped that the reconciliation exercise of the FACs would soon be completed and all stakeholders would be able to sit down and come up with a final report on how all the institutions function during the 2024/2025 trade season and what to anticipate in the forthcoming groundnut trade season.
