Foroyaa has been reliably informed by the Federation of Cooperatives that during this groundnut trade season, monies to purchase groundnuts are disbursed into the AGIB bank account of the Federation of Cooperatives for disbursement into the Qmoney account of the CPMS to enable them pay farmers from such account by simply posting their entitlements on any cell phone for presentation to any Qmoney agent to receive their cash. Foroyaa has been informed that so far over 500 million dalasi has been disbursed through such a marketing chain.
After some challenges experienced by farmers in receiving their entitlements without any deduction or delay, the operatives of the system promised to conduct an assessment and then improve on performance. The assessment has been done and more money disbursed in order to continue with the process.
Foroyaa invites any farmer who experiences a challenge in getting their dues without deduction or delay to send their concerns to Foroyaa for onward transmission to GGC, the Federation of Cooperatives and Qmoney. Transparency and accountability are crucial tools.
