By Saikou Suwareh Jabai Reports from Taranga FM and a close monitoring of the station indicate that the station is broadcasting its programmes without hindrance. This includes the broadcasting of news published by all newspapers. A presenter at the station, Yusupha Darboe, rubbished claims of being threatened by the state or the radio’s management. He assured his highest commitment in selflessly serving listeners. On some of the challenges he faces in his work, Darboe said people always attempt to discourage him by describing his job as “risky and critical.” He noted: “I am not an author of these stories I review, what I do is to translate them into the national languages for a wider audience as the people have the right to be informed.” He said they pick news from all newspapers in The Gambia, irrespective of whether the medium is state owned or private. He said this indicates how objective they are and the fairness they maintain among all political parties in the country.  ]]>
