If draws are SK East coach’s philosophy of retaining the Super Nawettan title then he might consider change of plans.
Serrekunda East were yet again forced to share spoils after playing Brikama in what was both sides’ second group match.
East Bi rifled in the opening goals two minutes from break with a perfect effort from Mam Ngorr Mboob to lit up hearts of their travelling fans who had to contend with a stalemate score in the opening fixture. But resumption of play saw hosts Brikama level matters via Mustapha Drammeh from a Sam Gibba’s assist fifty-nine minutes ticking on the clock.
Wally Fofana, forced to start from the bench in the East Bi’s opener, got a deserved nod to start but the stylish forward’s involvement failed to secure his outfit the points.
Brikama who were reduced to ten men after Lamin Jarju got sent off for a second yellow card, now amasses four points in two games in the group.
Sukuta bounced back from the opening match defeat to resuscitate their campaign beating Barra Essau Mayamba 2-1 elsewhere at the East Park.
Banjul also drew SK West at the West Park in another fixture. The City Boys held East in their first match and now have two points unlike West on four points.
Earlier, previous tournament finalists Bakau were forced to contend with a drab goalless draw by Brufut.
Bakau needed to get off to a flying start to stay on track of replicating their show last term that saw them playing East Bi in the finals but a resolute Brufut proved a hard nut to crack. Consequently either side settled for a share of the spoils.
In another contest on Tuesday Manjai picked their first points on Serrekunda Central – sarcastically dubbed the Whipping Boys and who had no nawettan this term owing to funding issues.
SK Central’s set up is a hastily arranged team picked from an organized mini-tournament of eight teams in the zone, Foroyaa Sport understands.
Elsewhere Gunjur strolled past Lamin on a 2-1 score. Salif Bojang and Saikouba Manneh two goals was enough to rip off Lamin’s hopes of a comeback though they tried one when Kalifa Manjang reduced the deficit but it turned out too late too little.
