QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“Knowledge is power. Information is liberating. Education is the premise of progress, in every society, in every family,” – Kofi Annan

MY POWER MY FAITH

Soil fallen in my hands

Tears dried on my cheeks

Rainbow swimming the sky

Pulling down blood drops

Dignitaries my work require

For that I can succeed

My power my faith I concede.

Be faithful

Be powerful

Blood don’t shed

Souls don’t vanish

If not my eyes bleed.

Injections you push into muscles

Taking tools as operation materials

Pulling out hearts and veins

Blades tiring fleshes

Innocent souls you ended

Using your magical tools

All for currency

Because you are powerful

But never faithful.

THE NEW ERA

When the head of a tiger is cut off

Its body becomes the chamber of vultures

When the white dragons first came

Pulled our heads away

Flied us far away

Tractors our bodies where

Starvation we knew as food

Blood as our beverage

We worked from down to dust

Chains round our bodies freedom we knew not of.

For it shows our lives we regain

Our freedom is no longer bargain

Our true images now convey

For the seeing of all we portray

To the hearing if every one we say

People may ask why we are not free

But the fact that we are free

Meaning we deserve to have our freedom.

February 18th 1965 a horizontal ray flag

A dimension of 2:3 was raised

Which has a political, social and cultural meaning

THE GAMBIA OUR HOME LAND was sang

Independent determines our attitude

Our color, norms and values
