Soldiers’ Parents Disappearance Continues For 9 Days

By Mustapha Jallow Mr. Essa Bojang and Mrs. Fatou Sonko, the father and mother of ex military officers, namely Bakary Bojang and Dawda Bojang respectively are yet to be seen eight days after they were arrested by the police at Mbankam Village, North Bank Region. Informing this reporter about the development, a family source said the duo is yet to be released since the day they were arrested. The source added that they went to the police headquarters in Banjul but were told that their family members are not in their custody. It could be recalled that the parents of the two soldiers were picked up from Mbankam village, in NBR on Thursday 1 January 2014, around 5am by three men in plain clothes and whisked away to an unknown location. It was reported that Dawda Bojang left the Gambia Armed Forces four months ago. “We still don’t know the reason (s) for their arrest and disappearance without trace. We are renewing our call on the authorities to release our parents or help us trace their whereabouts as we are in a state of despair and sadness.”]]>
