Foroyaa is receiving complaints about the lack of settlement of dues to farmers more than a month after the end of the 2024/2025 groundnut trade season. Before the end of the season, the GGC commenced the operation of visiting 32 seccos with a view to performing reconciliation. Foroyaa had the impression that the GGC will continue to visit the remaining 69 seccos by the end of the groundnut trade season or thereabout, to complete its reconciliation process and call a press conference to reveal its findings and decisions in settling all claims on all sides.
This would have depicted efficiency and effectiveness in handling outstanding claims during the trade season. GGC would have then established a template for future operations that could go without hitches.
Foroyaa has approached management and it is claimed that they are still reconciling. For the sake of transparency and accountability, GGC should have a complaints division where all complaints and claims can be sent, so that the division would convene weekly press conferences to announce the weekly settlement or resolution of claims.
This is one way of leaving complaints in the dark.
