By Muhammad Bah The Senegalese delegates invited to the opening of the 2015 legislative year on Friday extended their visit to Saturday 28th February 2015, holding talks with their Gambian counterparts on strengthening ties between the Gambia and Senegal towards mutual benefits and common interest for both peoples and governments. This meeting was held in the afternoon at the Clay Oven Hotel in Fajara where they were hosted by the Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Abdoulie Bojang and his parliamentary. In a press conference, Speaker Bojang told the media that the purpose is geared towards strengthening the relationships between the two countries. He pointed out Senegal and the Gambia are two but one. Hon. Mouhamed Tete Diedhiou president of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs, African Union and Senegalese abroad added that their objective is to promote and strengthen the role of the Senegalo-Gambia permanent Secretariat office located at Cape Point in Bakau. The Foroyaa Reporter Mr. Muhammad Bah asked what level of relationship they want to reach that is different from what the two states have. Hon. Mustapha Diakhate majority leader and president of parliamentary party coalition in Senegal replied they will create a parliamentary committee to solely steer the relationship of the two countries. “We will invite our counterparts to Senegal and we will do all we can [to strengthen relations] between the two heads of states”. Hon. Fabakary T. Jatta Majority leader of the National Assembly added that the relationship between the two states is guided by the intentions of its leaders and this he said is evident on both sides. He said the two Executives have their relationships and for them as parliamentarians their involvement in the diplomatic process to further smoothen the relationship is important. Hon. Sheriff Abba Sanyang, Deputy Executive Secretary Senegalo-Gambia Permanent Secretariat said that they have accomplished their effort by bringing both parties to the table. He expressed confidence in further achievements. The Gambian team includes the Speaker of the National Assembly. Hon. Abdoulie Bojang, Hon. Fabakary T. Jatta Majority Leader, Hon. Mustapha Diakhate majority leader and president of the parliamentary party coalition BENNO BOKA YAAKAAR, Hon. Mouhamed Tete Diedhiou president of the parliamentary committee for foreign affairs, African Union and Senegalese abroad, Mr. Sanna Camara Administrative secretary and National Mobiliser of the ruling APR Party in Senegal and an Adviser at the office of the president, Mr. Fiacre Coly regional president and divisional council chairman of Casamance Region and Mr. Ibrahima Faye. ]]>
