Gambia today tussle it out with Namibia for the Russia 2018 World cup preliminary qualifiers at the Independence Stadium.
Almost all invited players are in camp for the must-win fixture with only few withdrawals hitting the camp.
Gambia last played September 6th to the cheering of a record turn up of spectators but ended up on the losing end -biting the dust to Cameroon.
The buildup to the showdown was momentous but Roaul Savoy’s outfit failed to pick the spoils. Impressive they were lauded and truly were.
But aware no team has ever been accorded points on basis of free flowing football, the Swiss gaffer could by now sense growing sense of resignation amongst fans over the team’s lack of a win in two outings.
The enthusiasm though remains unspoiled. The 41-year-old, however, is under no illusions he and his regiment of charges need to up their game. And against Namibia, they will be looking to do just that.
Amongst players Savoy will be counting on are new inclusions like Alagie Sosseh who’s recalled to the team to bolster the team’s attack.
Scoring has been Gambia’s biggest drawback but the gaffer now has four forwards at his disposal including Momodou Ceesay who will be playing for the first time under the Swiss.
