Gambia may have to do without Demba Savage’s involvement in the coming
fixtures with the midfielder still to fully recover from an injury.
The Gambia international picked up what appeared to be a hamstring
after colliding into an opponent during a domestic championship duelagainst AIK Solna May 8th.
In a contested match that ended 3-2 in Solna’s favour, Demba cut a
desolate figure as he sat on the grass before been walked to the
sidelines with the help of a club medic grimacing in apparent sheer
agony.
The former Gambia Ports Authority wing-wizard lasted barely
twenty-five minutes in that game. His abrasion had him missing three
of his club domestic fixtures.
Though he was amongst substitutes mentioned on the bench , Savage
played no part in the 3-1 romping of Jonkopings pitch and didn’t even
make up the roster in the subsequent match against Kalmar.
His absence as a result makes him a doubt for the Scorpions’ friendly
against Zambia May 30 and the final home Gabon 2017 qualifier tie with
South Africa slated for the Independence Stadium.
This is not the first time Demba is being a major doubt on the
approach of national team games as the winger nearly missed the
Mauritania duel with a sustained concussion.
