By Sulayman Bah Gambian track gem, Lamin Sanneh did not disappoint in Leeds Lamin Sanneh and Mariama T. Jallowhalf marathon race finishing fourth despite fasting. Sanneh observes Ramadan – a sacred month that comes once annually – which involves self-deprivation of water or food for fourteen hours. Clocking 33.11, Lamin’s timing couldn’t have been any better considering his conditions during the race breaking Gambia’s record in the 10km race. Speaking in the aftermath of the event, Sanneh expressed delight being able to take part in the Yorkshire big event – a dream made possible after he reveled in the Bajana international road run. His participation in the UK marathon was marred by a change in departure schedule having to wait for female Gambian counterpart Mariama T. Jallow who was out in an international competition.]]>
