By Sulayman Bah Long distance runner Lamin Sanneh has said he’s privileged to Lamin Sanneh and Mariama T. Jallowbe taking part in Leeds famous Half Marathon competition. Sanneh leaves shores of the country today for the United Kingdom to partake in the annual long distance race in New Yorkshire which kick-starts this Sunday. He is expected to be joined by national team-mate and emerging female track sensation Mariama T. Jallow for the event. There were initial concerns over Lamin’s participation after he was unable to make his first departure date of July 15 before a reschedule in date to today Friday.   However, speaking yesterday ahead of his departure, a delighted Lamin told Foroyaa Sport: “Big privilege for me to participate in the Leeds marathon. The last time I wasn’t able to participate because I was in Edinburg whilst Mariama was there. So it is a privilege to take part in this one. I will be going there to race and also represent Gambia.” Gambia’s promising long distance runner Lamin sealed a place in the UK marathon finishing first in the 10km Bajana race, an event facilitated by Gambia Volunteers Trust. Considered one of the brightest prospects in long distance races in the country, this will be the second time the ace is taking part in UK races with his being Sheffield and Edinburg marathons. The ace was a member of Gambia’s team sent to Scotland ahead of the Commonwealth Games slated for Glasgow this year before the country’s dramatic withdrawal from the world body.]]>
