Mr. Momodou Sabally, the former Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service and the Minister for Presidential 
Affairs, concluded his evidence in chief at the Banjul High Court by maintaining that the cars of Alasan Ndoye were actually given as gifts for the president.
The proceedings before Justice Emmanuel Amadi yesterday, Monday, 29th June 2015, also witnessed the beginning of cross examination of the accused person by the prosecution.
When the case was called, DPP S.H Barkun appeared for the state whilst Lawyer Antouman Gaye represented the accused person.
Mr. Sabally, the first defence witness (DW1), told the Court that Mr. Ndoye (PW10) brought 2 cars to the State House when he was standing near the mosque with some officers, including General Sulayman Badjie, Lt. Col. Tamba and Mr Dibba. He said Mr. Ndoye was present when he told the officers that he (Ndoye) has donated the two cars to the president.
DW1 said when he was explaining to the officers that Mr. Ndoye brought the vehicles as gifts to the president, he (Ndoye) was there but he did not object to what he said. He said that instead Ndoye was eager to explain to the officers the features of the two cars.
Under cross examination, the former presidential affairs minister was asked by the DPP whether he knew PW1 (Sheikh Omar Bah) in the later part of the year 1999. He responded that it is more than 15 years now but that occasionally the behaviour of PW1 questions his integrity.
“As a friend who has always been part of my family, I would caution him and give him brotherly advice. I even questioned his integrity when I used to work with him at the Central Bank of the Gambia,” said Sabally.
At this juncture, the matter was adjourned to 30th July, 2015 (today) at 2 30pm for further cross examination by the prosecutors.]]>
