The rubbish heap which was blocking access to the Senegambia garage
was collected on Monday morning.
Speaking to one Jonfolo Ceesay, a baobab seller, she described the
removal of the waste as a relief. She said apart from being an eyesore, the uncollected garbage also posed as a health threat to all
those who spent their time around it either selling or coming to buy.
“The place was so filthy and unhygienic and unsafe to stay around,”
she said.
Madame Ceesay commended the Council for removing the garbage but urged
them to avoid any recurrence.
Momodou Jallow, a nearby shop keeper, also expressed his relief with
the removal of the waste. He said it has been polluting the
environment with its stench.
