The more the cost of production increases the more difficult it becomes for farmers to produce crops. This is why the cost of fertiliser is subsidized to increase it accessibility to more members of the farming community.
The National Food Security Processing and Marketing Corporation ( formerly called GGC) has emphasised that fertiliser is made available to seccos that had complied with their obligation during the last trading and to private dealers in order to fix the price at D1100 per bag from Kartong to Koina.
Private dealers are paid commission on their sales. From the information Foroyaa gathered from the GGC no farmer should purchase fertiliser at more than D1100 per bag.
The GGC should issue a press release to call on the farmers to report any secco or dealer for selling fertiliser for more than D1100 per bag. A nationwide broadcast of such press release will send signals to those fertiliser dealers who are currently being accused of increasing the price from D1100 to D1150 or D1200 D1225.
