President Yahya Jammeh has relieved his minister of Lands and Regional Government of his Cabinet post, according to a press release from state House in Banjul.
According to the release aired over State owned Gambia Radio and Television Services, GRTS, 10pm December 4, 2015,the president acting on Section 71 of the Gambia Constitution has removed Mr. Momodou Aki Bayo as Minister of Lands and Regional Government with effect from December 4, 2015.
In the same vein, the release informs that the president acting on the same powers has appointed Mr. Momodou Lamin Gibba as Minister of Lands and Regional Government with effect from 4 December 2015.
However, this is the second change in the cabinet by the Gambian president since he commenced his country-wide tour dubbed ‘Meet the People Tour’ two weeks ago.The first was the relief of Mr Lamin Nyabally of the portfolio of Minister of Presidential Affairs, leaving him to retain the fisheries portfolio.
Momodou Aki Bayo was fired from his post as Minister for Local Government and Lands in 2013 but he was appointed again in April 2014 when the person who replaced him also was removed.
