Upon his return from an official visit to Saudi Arabia, President Adama Barrow said The Gambia is now poised to host the OIC Summit on 5th May 2024, instead of December 2023.
“Because of the circumstance, security and all sorts, we decided that it is better we push it further. We decided to engage at the highest level, we engage the heads of states and secretariat and I think unanimously they all agreed,” he said.
President Barrow said he thinks May 5th, 2024 will be the best time for The Gambia to host the summit. Since 2020, The Gambia’s hosting of the OIC Summit has been rescheduled three times.
