Police in the Upper River Region (URR) are investigating an alleged armed robbery that took place in Madinayel Village, Kantora District, on October 4, 2025.
Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo said preliminary investigations indicate that six armed men, dressed in black coats and masks, attacked four shops, seizing cash and other valuables before reportedly fleeing across the border into Senegal.
“Personnel of the Police Intervention Unit, Crime Scene Investigators, and the Gambia Armed Forces in the region responded swiftly to the scene. The area has been cordoned off, and evidence collected as investigations continue,” PRO Sisawo said.
He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with police by providing any information that could help identify the perpetrators.
The spokesperson said further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
