Officials in the Gambia Police Force (GPF) Tuesday said suspects in Thursday’s attempted robbery in Fajara are slapped with several charges. The Police say the alleged perpetrators would soon be brought to a court of law.
The suspects are charged with robbery with violence, going armed in public, conspiracy to commit felony – under the criminal code, having firearm without authority – under the arms and ammunition act, the police said.
Investigators are still putting together details of the shooting, which unfolded at a residential area in the municipality, police say.
The suspects were later booked after storming into a house targeting to rob a man, but failed during the process –culminating in the suspects firing shots in the air that brought panic among residents as well as paved way for their escape.

“We have charged them with various counts and the matter will soon be taken to the prosecution office for their case to be mentioned in the court,’’ said Pateh Bah, deputy commissioner of police, who doubled as regional crime officer for Kanifing Municipality during a briefing held at Kairaba police station.
It could be recalled that the attempted robbery incident happened on Thursday, February 15th, 2023, around 10 am.
