Police Arrest Suspect Involved in Robbery Incidents along Sukuta-Jabang Highway

The Latriya Police Station has apprehended a suspect in connection with two robbery incidents that occurred on January 1, 2025, along the Sukuta-Jabang Highway.

The Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Police Force, Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo, disclosed this development over the weekend.

According to the police report, the first incident involved a businessman from Jambur who was ambushed near the Jabang Forest. He was robbed of cash, electronic devices, and personal documents worth approximately D500,000. In the second incident, a couple from Busumbala was attacked near the Salaji Forest, resulting in the loss of D96,000 in cash. Both robberies left the victims injured.

The total value of the stolen items is estimated at D666,660. Acting on intelligence, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) promptly recovered the vehicle used in the robberies, weapons, and some of the stolen items.

The police assured the public that investigations are ongoing and urged citizens to remain vigilant. 

According to the police, a C-Class Mercedes Benz reported stolen at the Old Yundum Police Station on December 27, 2024, was recovered from the suspect’s second residence in Dalaba Estate. Other items, including a jacket, daggers, and a smartphone, were also seized.

The suspect has revealed the identity of an accomplice, Ebou (alias “E”), who remains at large.

They emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activities to enhance public safety and prevent further incidents.
