Police Announce Fatal Car Accident in LRR

The Gambia Police Force announced a fatal car crash that happened in The Lower River Region on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, involving a taxi. The said incident happened near Kiang Kaiaf village.

The police announced that the Mansakonko police station responded to a tragic accident that happened near Kiang Kaiaf involving a taxi driver who was driving at a high speed and lost control of the vehicle, and drove into a bush.

Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo, the Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Police Force said the accident claimed the lives of three individuals—two females and one male.

“The victims were rushed to Soma Hospital for urgent medical attention. Sadly, upon arrival, three of them, identified as Hawa Ceesay, Mam Sirrah Secka, and Omar Secka, were confirmed dead. The driver, Madi Secka, is currently receiving treatment, while Sheikh Secka has been referred to Farafenni for further medical care,” he said.

PRO Siaswo continued: “The Gambia Police Force urges all road users, especially those travelling back from the “Gamou,” to exercise caution and drive responsibly to prevent such unfortunate incidents.”
