The Chief Executive Officer at Peace Network has announced, in a press release, the appointment of Mr. Alkali Dibba as Peace Network’s principal Coordinator in the United States (U.S).
According to the release, Mr. Dibba will support the strategy’s implementation to prevent conflict, promote stability in the US, and strive to mobilize and unify Gambians in the USA. He would also support Gambians in peace-building efforts at home and support communities in the US by holding sensitization campaigns on illicit drugs and crime; and provide support during disasters in US and support the Government of the US in their efforts to promote peace, democracy, human rights, development and equality.
CEO Jallow of Peace Network expressed optimism that his organisation can play a pivotal role in contributing to the socio-economic advancement of people in the USA.
According to the release, Mr. Dibba is an Administrative Manager, Peace Activist, and youth leader with extensive experience in public service. He has a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Policy Analysis, and Human Resources from California State University in East Bay, and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Economics with a minor in Political Science from the University of The Gambia (UTG) in 2012. Mr. Dibba attended the Faculty of Law of the UTG from 2011 to 2015 and obtained a Diploma in Management Studies (DMS) from the MDI in 2008, and a Higher Teacher’s Certificate (HTC) from the Gambia College in 2003.
Mr. Dibba started his career as a teacher with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) of The Gambia and taught at Gambia Senior Secondary School between 2008 and 2015. In the 2011/2012 academic year, he resigned from his teaching job to take the responsibility of leading students’ affairs at the UTG after winning the Students’ Union Presidential Election (UTGSU) in 2011.
Mr. Dibba is widely credited for serving as one of the most influential and successful UTGSU presidents, thanks to his charismatic, professional and passionate leadership style in championing students’ issues while paving the way for a more robust unionism, the statement says.
In 2015, he left for the USA to pursue his master’s degree program after being awarded a leadership / academic scholarship to pursue a higher education program of their choice.
Additionally, Alkali M Dibba briefly worked as a market officer in Berkeley, CA, undertaking brand promotion and consultancy for an agency. He also worked at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in San Francisco city where his duties included administrative support services.
Upon completion of his master’s degree program, he joined Walgreens and Boots Alliance in 2020. He currently serves as an Assistant Manager and is currently pursuing another postgraduate program at Arizona State University on Global studies and Conflict Management with a minor in Law. He was recently awarded the Most Engaged Delegate at the Global Youth Summit, which was held in New York, the USA, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly summit from September 26 to 30, 2024.
