The Executive Director of National Youth Council (NYC) Mr. Lamin Darboe has said that young people should not be at the passenger’s seat because they have voters card which is the commodity of electoral process but they should rather dictate the game.

The NYC Executive stressed that young people should not be manipulated to be in the passengers seat. He said it is important for young people to maintain peace before, during and after elections.

Mr. Darboe made these remarks at Gold Holders’ Associations(GAHA)  youth electoral forum  which was held at the American Corner along the Kairaba Avenue as part of the association’s  30 years anniversary with the theme ‘Election violation and violence: The role of youth in peace maintenance’

“There is no time for youths to wait for their time, now is the time. He added that the peace that they advocate for starts with them. Our fundamental role is to reject violence. In the game of fair play opponents are not enemies. Our role is to see our country first before our parties. Let’s exercise our civic duties in peace before, during and after elections”, said the NYC Executive Director.

He continued “Don’t sell your voters card, because it’s your power, voice and your life. Go to the polls and vote. Bad leaders are elected by good citizens who don’t vote. We should be at the driver’s seat, let’s not allow ourselves to be in the passengers seat”.
