Mr. Barthalomeh Bolo Colley, the NPP candidate for the forthcoming Half Die Ward By-elections, submitted his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral Commission’s (IEC) Regional Office in Banjul yesterday, Thursday, 10 April 2025.
Mr. Bolo Colley, who will contest the Ward seat under the National People’s Party (NPP), spoke to the press after submitting his nomination papers.
Born and raised in Half-Die, Colley said: “I live within the community. I know the challenges of the people within my community, and I believe I can bring some solution to these challenges.” According to him, Half-Die is an NPP stronghold, and there is no reason why the party will not win the forthcoming By-election.
“We will go through the formal process but will be sure of our victory,” Mr. Colley said.
Hon. Seedy SK Njie, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, said his party is hopeful of winning the forthcoming Half-Die Ward By-election because the Ward is a stronghold for the NPP party.
“We have won the Half-Die Ward during the past presidential, parliamentary, and Local Government Elections. This shows how rooted we are in this Ward and Banjul in General. The NPP continues to be grateful to the people of Banjul for their support for our party, and we are certain that we will win this By-election,” Hon. Njie said.
Deputy Speaker Njie said the people of Banjul still have confidence in the NPP.
Mr. Ousman Wadda, the Constituency Chairperson of the NPP, said they have been winning all elections in Halt-Die Ward since the party came into being.
“We are not scared of this coming By-Election because the electorate of Half-Die Ward know us, and we know them. So whenever we speak to them, we believe that they will listen to us and vote for our candidate,” he said.
The NPP Constituency chairperson said Half-Die is one big family, and the candidate that the party has put forward was chosen by the people. He said during the selection process, the name of Bolo Colley was forwarded to them by the people of the Ward.
“This shows that Bolo was selected by the community. Therefore, he should be able to win the seat for our party,” Mr. Wadda said.
