When contacted to confirm the veracity of the information, the police spokesperson, ASP Lamin  Njie, confirmed the information. According to ASP Njie, the case involves nine boys, some teenagers others in their early 20s at Kaimoh village in the Foni Bintang District. He explains that the victim was at a ceremony when she received a phone call prompting her to move away at a distance to answer the call. It was then that the said young men confronted her and dragged her to a nearby bush. Her screaming caught the attention of some people who came to her rescue, he said.

“The boys have been arrested and charged for attempted rape and conspiracy to commit felony and they are awaiting trial,” Police PRO Njie disclosed.

ASP Njie however assured the general public of The Gambia Police Force’s commitment in ensuring the safety of women and girls in the communities.
