The Director General of the National Centre for Arts and Culture (NCAC) has said the National Organizing Committee of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations has put arts and culture as a top priority in this year’s celebrations.
Mr Hassoum Ceesay was speaking to the only government Newspaper, Gambia Daily about NCAC’s level of preparation in the area of arts and culture.
“NCAC is mobilizing creative and performing artists to partake in the artistic and cultural component of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations in February 2025,” he disclosed.
Mr Ceesay explained that this is in line with the government’s commitment to promote arts and culture in the country.
He revealed that six top Gambian artists have been prepared for the musical jamboree on Independence Day at the memorial Arch grounds in Banjul to be supported by a live band, technicians, and stage managers.
“All dignitaries coming for the event will be given a befitting Gambian cultural welcoming as the NCAC has adequately mobilized different cultural groups for the event both at the airport and Coco Ocean Hotel,” he said.
The NCAC boss also mentioned a state banquet and some interesting cultural displays as the main highlights at McCarthy Square, aimed to showcase The Gambia’s rich and unique culture.
He revealed that the government has replaced the old elevator, the ARCH 22 to give Banjul a new look for the Diamond Jubilee.
He finally thanked the Government of The Gambia for supporting this year’s celebrations and for prioritizing the preservation of the country’s rich cultural heritage.
