announced that Mr Owens resigned because of health reasons. In response to Mr Owen’s resignation, it was indicated that the ministry
of agriculture is now under the purview of the office of the president
and that President Jammeh is now the minister of agriculture.
Mr Owens was first appointed “deputy minister” of agriculture in
February 2012 and one month later after criticism in some quarters that the
position of “deputy minister” is not provided for by the constitution
the post of deputy minister ceased to exist and he was appointed
minister of agriculture in March 2012. He served in that position
