Gambia defender Matarr Jobe’s professional contract with Icelandic club Valur has run out, Foroyaa Sport can report.
The 23-year-old joined Valur 2010 after spending seasons with local Gambian club Real de Banjul.
Jobe, a no-nonsense stopper, made thirty-four appearances out of his four-year spell with the Icelandic first division club spending most of his time there on the pitch fringes.
He got loaned twice with second tier side Vikingur Olasfvik first, a year after penning a deal with Valur and, then in 2014.
The former Gambia U-20 captain was shipped out to get more minutes and experience first-team duties with a strong bid to return and establish himself at parent club Valur.
But the project spectacularly hit the brick walls with injuries a contributing factor.
The hard-tackler is yet to sign professional terms this year but has posted numerous videos of him in gym sessions sending signals he could be line up for a return to the football pitch.
