Man Accused of Killing Lady in Bureau de Change Pleads Not Guilty

Arona Tine, the alleged killer of Fatoumatta Kagbo, a former employee of a Bureau de Change at Westfield, Kanifing Municipality has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge proffered against him.

According to the particulars of the offence, Arona Tine, on or about the 19th of January 2024 at Westfield in the Kanifing Municipality of Greater Banjul area, with malice stabbed one Fatoumatta Kargbo with a knife causing her death.

When the charge was translated to the accused in the Wolof language he pleaded not guilty to the charge. The presiding Judge Justice Jaiteh recorded a plea of not guilty for him.

State Counsel A. Gibba sought adjournment for them to call their first witness in the trial. He further asked the court to give a shorter date and to allow for multiple days to be taken for the case to proceed.

Senior Counsel Omar Suso from the National Agency for Legal Aid appeared for the accused. He did not object to the request for adjournment by the State Counsel. He indicated that he expected that the case was going to proceed by bringing their first witness in the case.

The presiding Judge, Justice Jaiteh granted the request and adjourned the case to the 30th April at 13:30, 6th and 13th May at 11:30, 14th May at 12 pm, 20th, 21st 27th, 28th and 29th May at 10 am, 3rd June 10 am, 04th June 14:15, 5th June, 10th and 11th June at 1 pm, 12, 17th, 18th and 19 June at 12 pm.
