MAMBURY NJIE STILL HOSPITALIZED

By Mustapha Jallow A former Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Mr Mambury Njie, who is Mambury Njiecurrently in detention for 119 days under the custody of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) has been hospitalised  at Serekunda General Hospital since 28 November 2014, family sources revealed. According to a family source Mr Njie is admitted at SK Hospital; adding that they were allowed access to him by the NIA. It could be recalled that he was arrested by the NIA at his residence in Brusubi on Thursday, 9 October 2014, around 9am and then taken to the NIA headquarters in Banjul. A family source indicated that they have access to him but that he has not been released or taken before a court of law. The family source said the reason for his arrest and long detention is still not known to them, adding that they are calling on the authorities to intervene. Mr Njie’s was earlier acquitted and discharged on two counts of economic crime and neglect of official duty by Justice Mikailu Abdulahi of the Special Criminal Division of the High Court in Banjul on 3 July 2014. He is being detained beyond the 72 hours limit for detention without court appearance.  ]]>
