The Director General of The Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS), Malick Jones, who was appointed by the former president, is removed from his position and redeployed as deputy permanent secretary at the ministry of information and communication infrastructure (MoICI), according to a source.
The source revealed that Bai Sanyang, the deputy director general, is now overseeing the institution.
Mr. Jones was appointed on the 19 December 2016 after the declaration of the results of the presidential election in which the former president was defeated.
The veteran broadcaster was the deputy permanent secretary at the ministry of information and communication infrastructure (MoICI), before his appointment as GRTS DG.
Sources also revealed that he is redeployed to his former position as DPS at the same ministry.
In 2011, Mr Jones has served as deputy Director General of GRTS until 2013 when he became the acting GRTS DG. Later in that year, he was appointed as the deputy permanent secretary at MoICI until his transfer to head GRTS replacing Lamin Manga.
