The key presidential candidates for the November elections in the USA have both reacted with maturity to the shootings which have caused deaths, including the demise of the shooter, at a rally held by Ex President Trump. Injuries received by ex president Trump are still being examined to indicate the cause.
What most analysts are saying is that the shooting was an attempted assassination. The motive of the shooter is still being assessed.
However both Ex President Trump and sitting President Biden have called for national unity and heightened security. The USA as a federation has to draw lessons from the dangers of extremism when allowed to be normalized in a multi party system. If the main stream political parties aiming to occupy political positions through elections allow belligerence of supporters who are ready to get to power by any means, politically motivated violence will be the order of the day.
The only way democracy can be saved is to build a country of citizens who support individual and party on the basis of the services they are capable of rendering to promote the interest of their country and that of her people. If debates and political affiliation are based on such principles there will be no room for extremism, especially assassination.
