Late Gambia coach to be remembered

By Sulayman Bah Late Gambia national team coach Lamin Sarr is set to be remembered Coach Lamin Sarrthrough a memorial tournament this week. The memorial tourney of Sarr who passed away in February after a brief illness will take the form of an eight-team championship featuring cross section of football family stakeholders. The maiden tournament to run from 5th to 12th June comprise Sports Journalists Association of the Gambia male football team, four clubs from the country’s top division; league champions Gamtel, Brikama United, Bombada and Bakau United including the Gambia Football Coaches Association. The then national U-17 women team that played in Azerbaijan will also play against a selection of the girls that did not make it to Azerbaijan on the day of the final. It would be recalled that Lamin Sarr served as national team coach in all categories, and has also coached at club and regional levels before he was elected president of the West Coast Region Football Coaches Association. ‘Therefore, we will have a box placed in all the venues for your contribution. All are urged to come and contribute to this noble gesture,’ a statement from the West Coast Regional football Association read.
