Today is seven days before polling. According to the Elections Act it is the last day when any candidate can withdraw his candidacy. The Act states in section 51 thus:
“Any candidate may withdraw from his candidature by notice in writing signed by him, and delivered by himself or one of the persons nominating him to the Returning Officer not later than four o’clock in the afternoon of the seventh day before the date of election, or where the election is to be held over a period of days, before the first day of that period.”
In other words if today passes without a withdrawal then there will be three ballot boxes whether one or not one wants to withdraw.
