Real de Banjul yesterday managed to close the gap to two points with leaders Gamtel after thrashing Interior 2-1 thanks to Yankuba Jarju’s
brace.
Victory over police outfit Interior in one of their two rescheduled
games in hand shoots the defending champions to second position ahead of Bombada.Real got off to a flying start with in-form striker Yankuba Jarju
rifling in the opening goal from an Ebrima Sidibeh’s assist after
twenty-three minutes ticked in the first-half.
Jarjue should have doubled the score had he not tapped the ball over the cross
bar when team-mate Sam Gibba coaxed his marker to find his way in
Interior’s half.
But the match wasn’t a one-way traffic as Interior soon found the back of
the net from a Khalifa Jarra’s header from a corner.
Resumption of play saw Yankuba who was making most of his newfound scoring
boot in the face of striker Madi Fatty’s dip form, nestled the ball into
the back of the net with Ebrima Sidibeh again turning provider.
RDB are now on 22 points two points below leaders Gamtel on 24 points
in eleven matches.
