QUESTION OF THE DAY
The government called a press conference yesterday at the Petroleum Ministry to clarify matters relating to the short supply of fuel in the country. After explaining what led to the scarcity, they only gave assurance of normal supply without explaining any concrete steps taken to replenish what has been consumed and how to avert such shortage in the future. There is need for explicit statement on this.
There is also need to take note of the monitoring system. The authorities cannot entirely rely on the reports of Gampetroleum but must constantly monitor their storage and supply and not to allow themselves to be taken unaware because they are answerable to the people.
Let it be known that fuel is the locomotive of our economy and we cannot afford inconsistent supply.
