China has eight companies that are working with private companies to expand trade abroad. The Gambia government however is not showing any sign of making a company like Gamtel to work with other similar private companies to provide telecommunication services.
It is important for private companies to know that they can best ensure sustainable development by working closely with public companies that could generate dividends for government. Otherwise, they would be subjected to heavy taxation in order to generate revenue for government.
We therefore expect that the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs will state clearly what the government intends to do with Gamtel and Gamcel.
