Gambians are receiving more publicity on the distribution of rice, oil and sugar as key commodities available to fight hunger in the face of the COIVD 19 Pandemic. Food is abundant in the US. However, President Trump told fox news on Sunday:
“Look, we’re going to lose anywhere from 75, 80 to 100,000 people,” he said. “That’s a horrible thing. We shouldn’t lose one person out of this.”
“I used to say 65,000 and now I’m saying [80,000] or [90,000] and it goes up and it goes up rapidly.”
Instead of competing how many bags of sugar and rice and gallons of oil, the Central Government or the Councils are distributing, both should cooperate to put in place by laws, social safeguards , social protection ,equipment and sensitization necessary to change mindsets to be COVID 19 sensitive and thus safeguard practice of safe spacing , cleaning hands and avoiding bodily contacts as well as screen , test and treat those who are symptomatic or are actually infected with the virus . Distribution of food items should be linked to mass sensitization on the dangers of COVID 19. It is a Killer. Taking preventing measures to nip it in the bud is a cross cutting issue. Fighting COVID 19 should be mainstreamed in all aspect of National Life . Join the fight !! The life you save may be yours.
