Is The Budget Session The Best Time For The President To Be On Tour?

319

QUESTION OF THE DAY

The answer is in the negative. The budget session is not the best time for the president or for any political party to show their political weight. The National Assembly did resolve itself into committee sessions to scrutinize the budget of ministries aligned to them. A number of them could not conduct such scrutiny because of the absence of ministers or permanent secretaries. The nation belongs to all. Its budget should be of primary concern to all. All eyes should be focused on the nation’s coffers and the debate on how the wealth of the nation is to be shared for the common good.
