QUESTION OF THE DAY
How far does the incumbent want to go with respect for fundamental rights?
In his statement on 9 January 2017, the incumbent indicated that all those detained between November 1, 2016 and January 31, 2017 would be released. This should also include those who left the country out of fear. Radio stations which are closed down should also be opened. T-shirts that were seized should be given back to their owners.
One therefore expects that people like Omar Malleh Jabang, Momodou Sarjo Jallow, Ousman Jammeh, Imam Ousman Sawaneh, Sheikh Omar Colley, Imam Cherno Gassama, Haruna Gassama, Dembo ‘Touray’ Darboe, Bakary Fatty, Seedy Jaiteh, among others, will be released.
Forooyaa will monitor and report on progress.
