QUESTION OF THE DAY
HAS PRESIDENT MACKY SALL GIVEN A REPLY TO PRESIDENT JAMMEH?
Yes, he did during an interview with the Senegalese media. He indicated that The Gambia was the first country he visited as President of Senegal and that he did request for the intervention of the Gambian President to find a solution to the Casamance crisis. He said President Jammeh should take this as a sign of good will. He emphasised that there is no problem between The Gambia and Senegal and nobody could sever the link between the two peoples who are linked by blood and destiny.
He said President Jammeh has been complaining that Senegal is harbouring dissidents aiming to overthrow his government. He said they have investigated such complaints and had deported some people out of Senegal. He emphasised that others who are living normally cannot be sent out. Similarly he does not expect President Jammeh to send Senegalese out who are just critical of him and are opposing him within the law.
He observed that President Jammeh does get heated sometimes and say many things but he is of the view that he Macky Sall has no ill intention against the Gambia.
